Did some tidying up in the back garden. Mostly removing the old leaves from plants and I discovered where the slugs are/were hiding. This one was attempting to escape:

Currently reading: The Siege by Ben Macintyre ๐in Audible.
Currently reading: Compost by Charles Dowding ๐A short book on how to make good compost. It draws together the information on composting that Charles Dowding has learnt over the past 40 years or so. It’s an important part of the No Dig gardening method. Definitely recommended if you want to make better compost.
Currently reading: The Ancient Guide to Modern Life by Natalie Haynes ๐ Started this after listening to the author’s series on BBC Radio 4 called Natalie Haynes Stands up for the Classics. She’s a classicist and a stand-up comedienne. The book is a fairly easy read. YMMV ๐
Listening to Test Match Special. England playing Sri Lanka at the Oval. Sri Lanka just lost their first wicket in their first innings. Great way of spending an unappealing day, instead of being in the garden.
Finished reading: The Notebook by Roland Allen ๐. A good read for anyone who loves using a paper notebook. I found it engrossing. Lots of information about when paper notebooks came available. Recommended.
Currently reading: Thinking on Paper by V.a. Howard ๐as a follow on from The Notebook.
Currently reading: The Notebook by Roland Allen ๐. I couldn’t resist this. The reviews are good, and although I am still in the introduction, I think this will be a good read. Either that or it will join the other books in currently reading.
Fox in the garden this afternoon about 4:30pm.
Saw a fox wandering around the cul-de-sac where I live. It was still daylight. I watched it explore the gardens and the shrubs. I wondered if it was looking for somewhere to hide. It eventually left and I am wondering whether it will return when it’s dark.
I’m tempted to set my pronouns as me/mine. What do you think, give in to temptation? ๐

Bees are busy in the garden ๐ฑ
The bees love the borage, although they appear to be rather camera shy. ๐ฑ๐คฃ
This is far better than I expected. They’ve thrived on neglect, mostly. ๐ฑ
I have never seen a sunflower this colour before. It seems happy growing in the garden. ๐ฑ
Beginning to see some signs of growth in the garden. Funny how plants from the same sowing respond depending on where they are in the garden. ๐ฑ
Finished painting the fence yesterday ๐๐ฑ
Painting the garden fence. Taken almost one and a half hours to do the top half of this panel. It’s like painting blotting paper. ๐ฑ
After wondering whether to join Mastodon for a long time, I’ve taken the plunge. I’m @M0VPG@mastodon.social if you’re interested ๐
More bulbs coming into flower ๐ฑ
The first iris reticulata to flower. Spotted today. Lots more to come too. ๐ฑ
Cats know how to sleep ๐น ๐บ
Blimey! Got home from visiting my sister for a few days and found a note from one of the candidates in the local election. First time that’s happened in the 26 years I’ve lived here. ๐ฎ
